Osprey Menorca Hotel: A Review of the Hotel, Location & More!
A review of Osprey Menorca Hotel! When I went to Menorca, I wanted to spend part of my time at a hotel within walking distance of a beach. If you are this deep into your hotel research, you know that there are LOADS of hotels to choose from.
I chose Osprey Menorca Hotel because it seemed to have the best price for a hotel in walking distance to a beach AND with great amenities.
There were pros and cons to staying at Osprey Menorca Hotel. Here is a review of the location, Cala en Porter beach nearby, the hotel room, amenities, activities offered, food and restaurants and more!

About Osprey Menorca Hotel
Osprey Menorca Hotel is a 3 star hotel located in Cala en Porter on the south coast of Menorca. It was once IBB Paradís Blau, but was renovated and rebranded to Osprey Menorca Hotel in 2023.
It is the only hotel that is located downhill, near the beach in Cala en Porter (rather than uphill in town or overlooking Cala en Porter beach.
The three story hotel is aesthetically PLEASING. Especially at the rooftop. The lobby is clean and nice, but the rooftop has a boho vibe with the lighting over the bar, the patio furniture, the wooden tables and chairs surrounded by tropical plants.
Points for beauty for sure.
While you are planning, you should know it is NOT open year-round; it opens around April 30th and then closes toward the end of October.

Review of Osprey Menorca Hotel Location
There are pros and cons to the location of Osprey Menorca.
One perk is that it is that Cala en Porter is located only a 12 minute drive from the airport. This made getting to my first hotel easy, which was nice after the long flight!
A BIG pro to Osprey Menorca’s location is that you are within feet of the beach. Once you exit the hotel, you continue down the flat path for a 4 minute walk to the beach.
This is super convenient for a beach day.
You don’t have to drive anywhere, you don’t have to carry your beach gear very far, you can go back to your room if you need something, or you can go back to the hotel for food.
And, along the pathway you will find a couple beachside restaurants and shops if you’d prefer to not eat at the hotel during the day (they aren’t open for dinner.)

However, the location by the beach is inconvenient for exploring Cala en Porter town. It is only a 7 minute walk, but it is quite the climb to get to the town.
If you want to stay in Cala en Porter, you just have to decide if you want to be close to the beach and walk up to town or if you want to be closer to town and walk down to the beach (and then back up.)
Cala en Porter Beach
A perk to the location of Osprey Menorca is also its proximity to a nice, big beach. While some of the coves in Menorca are small with limited beach area, Cala en Porter has plenty of beach space.
It also has chairs and tiki shade available for rent whereas this isn’t available at all the beaches either.
There are also great views of the beach below since it is surrounded by rocky bluffs.
The only downfall is that there can be a bit of sea grass near the beach. But I also saw this at many of the beaches on the south side of the island, and that usually depends on time of year/tides/etc.

Activities to Do Nearby
So the beach is a positive for the location. But what else is there to do in the area?
Cova d’en Xoroi
Another perk to the location is that the famous Cova d’en Xoroi is located in this area. If you’ve not heard of this, it is a bar that is caved into the rocky cliffs of Cala en Porter.
It is really unique being inside the caves AND it overlooks the ocean. However, the reviews are mixed. While some love the ambience and views, others say it is too crowded.
As a solo traveller, the bar scene wasn’t really on my radar. And I only had a couple of days at Cala en Porter, so it wasn’t on my priority list either. So, I don’t have firsthand experience if it is worth it or not.
However, if you want to visit, Cova d’en Xiori (look through photos on TripAdvisor to see if its your cup of tea) is about a 20 minute walk (with a bit of uphill climb) from Osprey Menorca Hotel.
Kayaking
On the ground level of Osprey Menorca is an area designated for renting kayaks. But, from what I have gathered, kayaking is not included with the hotel stay.
However, after some research, it seems Osprey Menorca Hotel may partner with MenorcaAdventures to provide kayaks to rent. I also read that they also help organize guided tours with MenorcaAdventures, which are about $57 per person on Get Your Guide.
This is all second hand information, and if you are interested in it I would ask the hotel directly!

I know for certain, however, that located on the path to the beach is Monkey Kayak.
This top-rated kayak tour explores caves and provides equipment to snorkel as well. It is located about 2 minutes into the 4 minute walk to the beach from Osprey Menorca.
I took a boat tour while in Menorca and met a family who took this tour and they talked very highly of it!
Kayak with Monkey Kayak
Price: $55 per person
Duration: 3 hours
Includes: Guide, snorkeling equipment, GoPro Photos
Anything Else?
A bit of a downfall to the location is that there is not quite as much to do in Cala en Porter town compared to some of the other beachside towns (such as Cala Galdana or Cala en Bosc.)
In Cala en Porter you can find a few restaurants and bars if you don’t want to eat at the hotel and a few shops to buy souviners, clothes, etc.
Otherwise, there isn’t much to do in the town.

Osprey Menorca Hotel Amenities
As I mentioned, I chose Osprey Menorca due to its price (though it was still pricey in July!) and its amenities.
This was my first solo trip and I wasn’t sure what I would or wouldn’t be comfortable doing on my own.
As my first stop, having the ability to walk to the beach, eat meals and grab a drink without having to do any navigating or driving was a safety net.
Here are a few amenities offered at Osprey Menorca Hotel 👇🏻
Rooftop Pool, Bar, Restaurant & Views
The rooftop has about everything you need in a hotel. There is a pool with shaded cabanas available on the north side of the rooftop.
Then there is a covered bar where you can order sangria, wine or whatever you prefer.
Just passed the bar, is outdoor seating for the al a carte restaurant that serves lunch and dinner.
On the south end there is patio furniture where you can sit and take in views of the beach and rocky cliffs below.
The rooftop is definitely the highlight of the hotel!
Parking
Renting a car is really a necessity if you want to explore more than just Cala en Porter. I tried to get by without one by taking a taxi (which was expensive) then the bus (which was inconvenient.)
After two days, I opted to rent a car and I HIGHLY recommend it.
And, a perk of Osprey Menorca is that there is a large, free, public parking lot RIGHT across from the hotel.
Technically, the parking is not associated with the hotel, so it is first come, first served. But the lot is large and there is also street parking down the path to the beach, so the chances of finding parking are pretty high.
Everything to know about renting a car in Menorca!

Water Taxi?
I talked to the bartender about needing to get to Cala Galdana for a boat tour. While I planned to take a taxi (which I did and didn’t do again because $$$), he mentioned that there are water taxis that go to different beaches along the coast of Menorca.
He tried to set one up for me to take from Cala en Porter to Galdana, but it didn’t quite work out.
BUT. If this is something they are actively working on, having the ability to get to different beaches via water taxi from Cala en Porter will be huge!
It will really save time when trying to get to beaches that are hard to reach by land and decrease the need for a car if you aren’t keen on the car idea.

Osprey Menorca Hotel Food Review
One thing about Osprey Menorca Hotel, they make sure you won’t have to leave the hotel if you don’t want to. They provide all meals you will need plus snacks and drinks.
Restaurant for Lunch & Dinner
The rooftop restaurant, the Osprey Nest, offers al a carte lunch and dinner.
I had dinner there two nights and enjoyed both of my meals!
They have a good variety of foods which is a mix of Mediterranean with more Americanized options as well. I had a chicken meal and fresh ceviche. The chicken was great and the ceviche was FRESH (so fresh it was a little much for me 😅.)
In addition to the chicken and ceviche, they have things like prawns, mussels, pork shoulder, sirloin, burgers, and more.

Breakfast
Breakfast is NOT included, but can be purchased for about $10 USD (I paid $20 for two days in 2025.)
While the food at the restaurant was great, the breakfast is very average. It is buffet-style and a typical, basic buffet.
You can find toasts, croissants and other breads, meats like ham, sausage, etc, eggs, fruit, cereals, etc.
And, of course, COFFEE (😍) and juices.
FYI: The buffet is located in a room on the rooftop; you can sit inside or opt to sit at a table outside.

Food Trucks
If you want a quick lunch rather than going to to the restaurant, you are in luck.
On the floor ground, you will find a food truck with delicious snacks.
It’ll have more Americanized foods such as hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, salads, french fries, chicken fingers and drinks such as soft drinks (sodas), sangria, frozen drinks and beer.
They also have a happy hour.
It is, overall, a great idea for a hotel so close to the beach!

Overall, I was happy with all of the food and drinks I had at Osprey Menorca Hotel!
Other Things to Know about Osprey Menorca Hotel!
Here is everything else you may want to know before making a decision if this is the right hotel for you!
Osprey Menorca Hotel Rooms
Wondering how the rooms are at the hotel?
While I think the rooftop is the star of the hotel, the rooms aren’t bad either. They aren’t anything fancy, but they are spacious enough, clean, have a walk-in shower and some come with balconies that overlook the street that runs to the beach.
The room was more than big and clean enough for me!
My only semi-complaint was the bed was a little hard, but I slept like a baby anyway.

Staff Friendliness at Osprey Menorca
The staff was great at the hotel! I only came in contact with the receptionist and a guy who worked behind the bar and at the restaurant.
The receptionist was super nice. She helped get breakfast set up, called to have a taxi set up for my early morning tour and was generally just pleasant to work with.
The guy who worked at the bar and was also my waiter at dinner was equally nice. Like I mentioned, he tried to help set up the water taxi for me and provided tips for things to do while on the island.
I was very happy with everyone that I came in contact with at the hotel!

How Much Should You Expect to Pay?
I spent 393 euros ($463 USD) for 2 nights at Osprey Menorca Hotel. I booked this room SUPER last minute (on June 2nd for my stay July 16th-18th 😅) which is also during peak season.
Needless to say, I did NOT get the best price out there. This is quite a bit more than I typically pay for a stay per night, but I used credit card points to pay for my flights, so I had a little wiggle room.
But, if you plan to visit Menorca in July or August, you shouldn’t be surprised if you pay around the same price or more. If you were to book now (in February) for July, you would probably pay closer to $200-$215 per night.
If you plan to visit in August, Europes PEAK beach travel season, you will probably send more than that (probably more like $250-275 a night.)
However, if you can swing it, visiting in May, June, September or October will save you some dollars!
Rooms in May are closer to $100 a night, June close to $150 and then dropping to similar prices toward the end of September and October.
