A Great Hotel Near Seattle Cruise Port: Where to Stay Before for an Alaskan Cruise!
Need a hotel near Seattle cruise port? Going on an Alaskan cruise and wondering where you should stay the night before? If you’ve been searching, you’ve probably realized hotels in Seattle during cruise season are NOT cheap. I compared hotel prices to AirBNB/VRBO prices and found that the prices turned out to be about the same.
So, here is a good hotel option for you due to its proximity to the port, shuttle availability and, the most convenient thing, proximity to the Safeway grocery store where you can grab your wine to take on the ship!
**I was not paid to stay at The Mediterranean Inn. It was chosen by us and we found the location and amenities to be convenient and worth a recommendation. I will, however, at no cost to you, make a commission on rooms booked through the link provided**
Where you Need to Stay: Hotel Near Seattle Cruise Port
The cruise port of Seattle is located north of uptown Seattle. I recommend staying pretty close to the cruise terminal as traffic can be bad on the day you board the ship.
I also recommend staying somewhere that has food in walking distance so you don’t have to worry about public transportation or renting a car.
A great area to stay for both of these is to stay just south of the Queen Anne neighborhood in the Uptown Seattle area. Here, you are in walking distance of the Space Needle and multiple restaurants.
- However, if you are wanting to do Pikes Place and downtown Seattle, you will be about a 30 minute walk away.
A hotel near the Seattle cruise port ( 6 minute drive), has multiple restaurants in walking distance and is clean with good amenities is the Mediterranean Inn.
About the Mediterranean Inn
The Mediterranean Inn is located in the south Queen Anne neighborhood, in the center of Seattle. It has a great, historic look from the outside and in the lobby, but with renovated and modern rooms. It has a great rooftop with beautiful views of the Seattle skyline, including the Space Needle as well as the bay and Mt. Rainier on a clear day.
- My favorite part, however, was the proximity to the grocery story, Safeway, CVS and multiple restaurants. We were able to walk to everything we needed prior to our cruise.
- The Safeway is a great place to go and get your wine you are allowed to carry onto the ship, as I mentioned, but also a good place to grab an early breakfast before you board your cruise!
Address: Mediterranean Inn, 425 Queen Anne Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109
Price of a hotel near Seattle Cruise Port
During shoulder season, I’m sure you can find a better price. But during the summer and cruise season, you are likely going to pay nearly $300 per night.
- My parents booked months and months in advance and still paid about $310 dollars for one night.
- I booked our hotel room at the beginning of May for our cruise at the end of July. I paid $287 for one night, and the decreased price compared to my parents was only due to having awards through Booking.com.
If you are unaware, if you frequently book through Booking.com you will build up your reward status and often get percentages off of certain hotels that are part of the reward program, which can end up saving quite a bit of money over time.
- I even checked to see if it would be cheaper booking directly through the hotel website (because a lot of the times it is) and it was not, due to the Booking.com rewards.

Amenities at the Mediterranean Inn
The Mediterranean Inn has amenities that you need along with several that are a great bonus!
- Rooftop– As I mentioned, it has a great rooftop area with seating, tables and a great view of Seattle.
- Coffee– There is a Starbucks coffee DIRECTLY beside it (same building), although it also has a coffee bar where you can get free coffee.
- Bikes- Loaner bikes are offered to explore the city (and get to Pike’s Place a little quicker if you like)
- Luggage Storage– If you get to Seattle before your room is ready, luggage storage is available.
- Parking- Garage parking is available if you’ve opted to rent a car. Additional nightly charges for the parking.
- Fitness Center– If working out on vacation is something you like to do, you’re in luck. A small fitness center is available.
- Shuttle Service– Shuttle services are offered to/from the airport as well as to/from the cruise port
Not included: Breakfast. As you prepare for your cruise to Alaska, know that you are going to get “nickle and dimed” on quite a bit of things throughout your trip 🙂 However, we did get a pretty affordable breakfast burrito at the Safeway.
About the Shuttle Service
A CONVENIENT perk of any hotel in Seattle will be to find one that offers to set up shuttle services to/from the airport as well as to/from the cruise port. However, be prepared, it probably won’t be free.
Shuttle from the airport:
- I’ve found that most hotels that offer free shuttle services from the airport to the hotel are located on the south side of Seattle, closer to the airport. Which won’t be convenient for you. It is worth it to stay in a better location and just pay for the shuttle.
- With the shuttle service offered by the Mediterranean Inn, the more people you are shuttling, the cheaper it will be. For two people, we paid $65+tax and fees to use my credit card, it ended up being $71 for the 25 minute ride from the airport.
- The rest of my family was picked up in a bigger group of about 8-10 and paid $15-$20 per person for the shuttle from the airport to the hotel.
Shuttle to the cruise port:
- The hotel is located only a 6 minute drive from the cruise port. and our group of 13 people paid $10 per person for the shuttle.
Restaurants Near the Mediterranean Inn
Again, the proximity of the Mediterranean Inn to the variety of restaurants is nice! There are options in nearly every food category you can think of. Within a 5 minute walk you can find:
- Mexican Food: The Blue Water Taco Grill or Sal Y Limon
- Greek/Mediterranean Food: Athina Restaurant or The Golden Olive
- Seafood: Taylor Shellfish and Oyster Bar (Expensive but known for their oysters). If you are really wanting seafood while in Seattle, you’ll have to walk a little farther or taxi for it. The other seafood restaurants are about a 20 minute walk or more.
- Italian: Messina Bar and Restaurant
- American Food/Burgers: the Mecca Cafe (a diner) or Dick’s Drive In
Hotel Near Seattle Cruise Port Recap
Unless you opt to stay in a less convenient location or a location that has a high crime rate in Seattle, you are going to spend a good amount of money on your hotel during peak travel season. Even if you book way in advance. As I look right now on Booking.com for Sunday, June 8, 2025, 77% of rooms are already booked in Seattle and the prices are just as expensive as this year
Just be prepared as you plan your Alaskan cruise that you will have to factor in a good-sized budget for your hotel in Seattle or opt to fly in the morning your cruise boards (which is risky).
