Juneau you can see for miles from here? 🙃🙃 Where to get a great view of Juneau from above! 📍Goldbelt Tram 🚠 What to know: ➡️Located at 490 South Franklin Street in downtown Juneau. ➡️Like anything in Alaska, it’s pricey. $55 per person ➡️The ride is only about 5 minutes each way ➡️You climb from sea level to 1,800 ft in 5 minutes ➡️There is a gift shop, coffee shop and restaurant at the top ➡️The coffee shop also offers beer and wine in a can ➡️If you have time, there are lots of hiking trails that begin in this area! Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier

One of my favorite mornings included waking up at 5:30 am to stand on our balcony as we cruised down a narrow fjord with icebergs and super turquoise waters 😍

At the end of the fjord is Dawes Glacier where the ship got as close as it could before somehow doing a 180 to cruise back out.

This was such a beautiful part of Alaska and was one of the perks of having a boat.

Post-Travel Photo Editing Tips⬇️

I love photographing just about everything while traveling. However, this means I can come back from a trip with thousands of photos and it can be overwhelming 😅

FIRST OFF, before you start taking any photos, make sure your lens is clean because it will save you LOADS of time later!

Here are a few other tips to make the post-travel photo editing less intimidating:
➡️Use an easy editor- Lightroom is great. It has a free version, its easy to use and you can organize your photos into albums
➡️Start with only uploading the photos you think you will love. Browse through them once they are uploaded and delete the ones that aren’t in focus (which can be hard to tell in the upload screen and on your camera screen sometimes) before you start editing
➡️If you edit all of your photos at once it can take hours. Instead, you can opt to edit as you need them for blogs and for social media.
➡️Make your own presets- I edit all of my photos very similarly. You can make a preset of the settings you use most often and then adjust from there to save time

Also, as your photography skills get better, the editing time will lessen. You will know the best aperture, shutter speed, and ISO for each situation which will cut down on the actual photos you take of one subject in one spot as well as decrease how much you have to actually edit the photo.

This is a never-ending learning process for me.

Alaska Cruise Weather💨

The wind on an Alaskan Cruise is REAL and it’s real nippy.

Whereas you can chill on the deck when you go the Caribbean, you can prepare to wear sleeves and warm clothes on the Alaskan Cruise. We had one day out of the 7 where it was comfortable enough to be on the deck at sea without freezing.

Luckily, Royal Caribbean had two indoor pool sections, one for kids and one that was adults only and this provided a comfortable area to hang out while at sea.

What to Know about the White Pass Summit Bus Tour!

The White Pass Summit is a summit located in Skagway at the border of Alaska and British Columbia.

We booked our tour with Klondike Tours through @getyourguide @getyourguidecommunity

➡️Cost: $60 per person
➡️Time: 3 hour tour
➡️Begins in Skagway and takes you up the Klondike Highway to the summit
➡️You begin at sea level and climb to 3922 feet
➡️If you are on a cruise, you will be picked up at the dock. If you are staying in Skagway you can meet at the Klondike Tours office at 3rd and Broadway. You ca also ride a SMART bus to the office from the docks for free.
➡️The tour stops at the Skagway Overlook Viewpoint, Pitchfork Falls, the “Welcome to Alaska” sign, Bridal Veil Falls, the White Pass summit across the Canadian border and other scenic stops along the Klondike Highway
➡️At the end of the tour, you will stop at the Gold Rush Cemetery where you can take a short, 10 minute hike to Lower Reid Falls, a 300 ft waterfall
➡️A PASSPORT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS TOUR

You can visit the mountains of Skagway and the White Pass Summit one of two ways without renting a car: by bus or by train.

We booked the Bus tour through @getyourguide @getyourguidecommunity

Bus vs Train tour:
-$60 per person for the bus tour
-Train tickets are about $150 per person ($73 per child)
-Both tours begin in downtown Skagway
-The train gets a bit closer to the cliffsides compared to the bus tour, however, both reach the Canadian border and White pass Summit
-The bus stops along the tour for photo opportunities and to see the waterfalls while the train continues along the path without stopping
-At the end of the bus tour, you stop at the Gold Rush Cemetery where you can take a hike to Lower Reid Falls
