Start Planning your trip Here!
Planning a trip can be intimidating. But if you want to travel, I want to help you travel! I’ve found many people struggle with the first step to planning a trip: committing to the trip!
Once you commit, there are steps to planning at trip! Pick your destination, plan your route, book the tickets, buy the gear and pack your bags!
where to begin?
Start with Inspiration
Before you can start planning your trip you have to decide where you want to go! Some people have their dream destination in mind; no inspiration for choosing a destination needed there!
However, if you can’t decide on where to go, my biggest tip: follow cheap flights! For more information on choosing a destination, click below!
Behind every good trip is good planning
Plan the route
How much you want to plan your trip prior to going is completely up to you! Some want EVERYTHING planned prior to leaving and some people want to buy a one-way ticket and see where the wind blows. My trip planning and my tips will fall somewhere in-between. Here is a condensed template to use for planning!
1) Pick where you want to go and what you want to see. I don’t mean your country; I mean what you want to see in that country. Figure out where you would like to start your trip and where you would like end.
Tip: Get a map, find your beginning destination and your end and see what you can find between!
2) Choose your transportation: Are you US road-tripping? Book a car! Are you visiting several European cities? Look into trains and buses! What you want to do and see will effect your transportation options as well. If you are wanting to see more than the cities, renting a car may be required!
Tip: My go-to for best travel between European cities: Rome2Rio!
3) Create a rough itinerary for each day. Do you want a guided tour? Self-tour? Eat all the best food in town? Have at least a rough idea of what you would like to do and see. It is fun to leave some wiggle room in your itinerary, but some things will need to be pre-booked!
Tip: My go-to for planning the best day itinerary, US and abroad: Pinterest! (unless you like to learn by video 🙃)
