About the Sphere in Las Vegas
The Sphere opened in Las Vegas in September of 2023 with the intent to be the new and exciting way to experience cinematic and musical shows.
As you walk in, you get the futuristic feel of the Sphere. You will notice robots around the room and each have different interactive activities (such as answering your questions!), see the holographic display that changes regularly with different 3D images, and look up to marvel at the futuristic-looking double layer of escalators.
However, the main attraction of the Sphere in Las Vegas is definitely the shows, which consist of the daily showing of Postcards from Earth and concerts.
Location of the Sphere
The Sphere is located at the Venetian Hotel on Sands Ave, just off Las Vegas Boulevard.
Shows at The Sphere
Again, the shows inside the main theatre are the attraction of the Sphere. Currently, you have three different options in shows:
- The main show that is available daily is Postcards from Earth.
- The second option is the “immersive concert experience” of U2. This is NOT a live concert- it is a showing of a concert series that “makes you feel like it is a live concert.”
- Aside from the regularly scheduled U2 concerts, they now also have other various live concerts. Right now, you can catch the Eagles in LIVE concerts from now until March of 2025.
Postcards from Earth
Currently, the main showing at The Sphere is called Postcards from Earth. This is a ~50 minute show that captures beauty from around the world: nature, villages, people, etc while telling a story.
- The story is essentially a world in where the Earth becomes less inhabitable and the mission is to send humans to a new planet to prepare it for humans. I.E. You are to leave with a better appreciation of the Earth and desire to protect it.
The Experience: While the story is average, the cinematography and quality of video is INCREDIBLE. If you are worried it is going to be a glorified IMax, it really is better than that.
- The video footage encompasses a HUGE part of the sphere, coming in from the front, sides and above! You really feel like you are under water, in the mountains or about to get trampled on a safari!
- The experience is meant to be fully immersive. Along with the incredible video quality coming at you from all sides, you experience vibrations in the seat when the rockets launch and when an elephant takes its giant steps.
Times: Vary from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm depending on dates
Length of the Show: ~50 minutes
Price: $99 +tax (about $114)
U2 Immersive Concert Series
I honestly thought U2 was live at The Sphere; I had no idea it was a video concert series. However, The Sphere has created a new way to do a concert.
- It is kind of like the theatre showing of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. However, its that, but magnified!
- With the high definition video on the 580,000 square ft of LEDS plus the worlds most advanced audio comes a unique and one-of-a-kind way to experience a concert without actually being at the live concert.
Now, is it worth it to pay for a concert when you aren’t even seeing the band “in real life?” That is probably up for debate.
Times: Either 7:00 or 9:30 pm depending on dates
Length of the Show: ~80 minutes
Price: $70-$170 USD depending on seats, dates and times +tax
Live Concerts
New to the Sphere are live concerts. Right now the Eagles have a residency, playing LIVE concerts on various dates between now and March 15, 2025.
The Sphere is combining the high definition effects of the virtual concert series and shows with the benefit of live music and performance. This should make the concert series much different from any other live concert you’ve experienced!
- Concerts take place Friday and Saturday nights TWO weekends of each month through March 2025 (not weekly).
- Fair warning: These tickets have gone FAST and what is left is NOT cheap. Most of the cheaper, upper bowl tickets are sold out and what is remaining are at the cheapest, $300 per person.
HOWEVER, the reviews of the Eagles concerts are HIGHLY rated, stating it is unlike any concert they’ve experienced and that they would do it again!
Times: 8:30 pm on the given dates
Length of the Show: ~2 hours

What you Should Know Before Going to the Sphere
Here are a few things you should know.
- The time on your ticket for the Postcards to Earth is the time the doors open and the show starts ~45 minutes after that. Doors open 90 minutes before the concerts.
- There is a purse size limit (6in x 6in x 2in) , though I saw people carrying bags bigger than the limit. So this rule is up to how risky you want to be lol
- This is a cashless venue; don’t forget your card!
- Photos and videos are permitted in the atrium, but you aren’t technically supposed to take photos or videos during the experience.
- During the Postcards from Earth experience, they sell tickets within a small range of the available seats. Meaning, the seats on the side of the auditorium probably won’t be used and the seats in the area they use will be nearly full.
- Don’t be like the people we saw and get there after the show starts and make people get up and down to let you in. Get to your seat before the show starts.
- It is chilly during the experience; if you get cold easily, you probably want to bring some sleeves.
Is this Different than a 3D or Virtual Reality Show?
This isn’t a 3D show. So, if you’ve been to a 3D show where you have to wear the glasses and things “pop out” of the screen, this isn’t like that. No headwear or glasses are required like that of a 3D show or of virtual reality experiences.
With that being said, if you get motion sick with 3D or virtual reality experiences (🙋🏼♀️), you should be fine in this show. I did take preventive medicine, but I don’t think it would have been required.
Is the Sphere in las Vegas Worth the Cost?
Specifically, is the 50 minute Postcards from Earth show for $114 worth it? The question everyone wants to know, and for fair reasons, because the reviews are very mixed!
In our group of about 15 people that watched the show, the majority of people really enjoyed it. It is a very cool experience and the technology and definition is out of this world.
However.
Do I think the cost of the show should be $114? No.
- If I were to put a price tag on it, I would say tickets should be more like $50. However, as you may come to notice in Las Vegas (now), things are pricey.
- So, the price was probably on par with what we paid for food, drinks, etc in Las Vegas.
- If you kind of treat it like Disney World, knowing it will be a cool experience but you are going to have to PAY for that experience, it will be worth it.
Final Thoughts on the Sphere in Las Vegas
If you are a fan of interactive, 4D-type activities, you will like this. I.E. if you like the kind of 3D rides at Disney or other amusement parks that make you feel like you are AT the place, you will really like this experience. It is like those, but better.
If you don’t appreciate quality video/immersive experiences or enjoy the Discovery channel, then you may be underwhelmed., especially due to the price and the length of show for the price.
